Reaching
Forward
- We
had a 46 year-old woman that received care through the
clinic for nearly 3 years. She took 7 medications on a
regular basis for her medical problems (prohibitively
expensive with help). Working with her healthcare providers
at the clinic she was able to get her medical condition
under control and stay sufficiently healthy enough to
get a job that provided healthcare benefits. She is now
able to get health care services elsewhere.
- We
were able to provide a woman access to healthcare for more
than 4 years before she was able to qualify for Medicare.
She was on 5 medications for those years and in addition
she had multiple short-term courses of medications, such
as antibiotics (an impossible expense on a fixed income).
Without that stopgap help she would have entered her senior
years in much worse health.
- We
provided access to healthcare for a woman in her 40's
for several years, caring for her high blood pressure,
diabetes and peripheral vascular disease. Under the auspices
of the clinic she underwent extensive vascular surgery
(in excess of $80,000 in cost). Having regained her mobility,
she now has a job that provides healthcare coverage. She
is also expressing her gratitude by volunteering at the
clinic.
